A tad late but....

HAPPY BEATLES DAY!

Now excuse me while I go fangirl over the new Remastered box set. And the Beatles: Rockband? AWESOME.

Oh, and the first day of my senior year wasn't too bad either. Now, about those college applications...*grumble*

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and he won’t tell you that he loves you, but he loves you. And you feel like you’ve done something terrible, like robbed a liquor store, or swallowed pills, or shoveled yourself a grave in the dirt, and you’re tired. You’re in a car with a beautiful boy, and you’re trying not to tell him that you love him, and you’re trying to choke down the feeling, and you’re trembling, but he reaches over and he touches you, like a prayer for which no words exist, and you feel your heart taking root in your body, like you’ve discovered something you didn’t even have a name for.

I was reading Paul McCartney's biography, Many Years from Now, the other day when I came upon this very touching quote about his and John Lennon's early friendship. Just thought I'd post it here for future reference (Just in case, you know, some headcase wants to argue with me about how much they hated each other ;P) :

"Paul: [John and I'd] often get in the little glass-panelled porch on the front door looking out onto the front garden and Menlove Avenue. There was a good acoustic there, like a bathroom acoustic, and also it was the only place Mimi would let us make noise. We were relegated to the vestibule. I remember singing ‘Blue Moon’ in there, the Elvis version, trying to figure out the chords. We spent a lot of time like that. Then we’d go up to John’s room and we’d sit on the bed and play records, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry. It’s a wonderful memory: I don’t often get nostalgic, but the memory of sitting listening to records in John’s bedroom is so lovely, a nice nostalgic feeling, because I realise just how close I was to John. It’s a lovely thought to think of a friend’s bedroom then. A young boy’s bedroom is such a comfortable place, like my son’s bedroom is now; he’s got all his stuff that he needs: a candle, a guitar, a book. John’s room was very like that. James reminds me very much of John in many ways: he’s got beautiful hands. John had beautiful hands."

Paul's so random...jumping from front gardens, to playing music with John, to John's bedroom, to how his son has the same beautiful hands as John....man, does his head work in tangents. It'd probably be confusing to have a conversation with the guy. Then again, I'm pretty much the same way...

"People where you live," the little prince said. "grow five thousand roses in one garden...yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But the eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."

Dear [younger] self,

Stop being such a lazy ass and DO something, alright? I understand the work is hard and you have the attention span the size of a tea spoon, but TRUST ME. It's all worth it.

Also, stop wasting your money.  You'll need it for a new iPod.

RIP Corazon "Cory" Aquino, First Female President of the Philippines

I was deeply saddened to hear that Cory Aquino had died of colon cancer last Saturday. I had always admired her strength and courage for standing up against the autocratic Marcos regime and helping lead the peaceful "people's power" revolution in the Philippines. Though merely a housewife, she took a stand after her husband's tragic assassination and brought back freedom and democracy into the Philippines.  We, Filipinos, now mourn the loss of a mother, a leader, and a wonderful woman. Thanks to her, my fellow Filipinos no longer live in fear but in freedom.

Thank you for everything, Tita Cory. We will miss you dearly. ♥

Imagine you manage a coven of baseball-playing vampires. The Cullen family is really strong this year and you want to bring in a ringer. Which currently active MLB baseball player do you sire?

The song's "Hideaway" by The Weepies. There's a line in the song that rings true for me:

I'll make my own way in the wide world
Just now I don't want to wander too far

Is it worth it to attend a college that's in a middle of an almost empty city eight hours away from NYC?

My sensible side screams, "FUCK NO!"
My crazy, adventurous side, on the other hand, is nodding her head vigorously and threatens to hit me with a spiked mallet if I don't agree with her.

Being a Libra sucks.

Anyway, I'm planning to give my dad a pacifier for his 52nd birthday. I think it's perfect, considering that he whines like a 2-year-old and likes putting stuff in his mouth. Amusingly enough, all my sides wholeheartedly agree with this one. What do you think?

Never listen to Revolution 9 in full blast while alone in a pitch-black room. It'll just leave you feeling traumatized. Traumatized, I tell you.

On a lighter note, I'm so psyched to see the new Harry Potter movie on Saturday. I don't think I can handle the ending though. Note to self: Bring Kleenex tissues to the movie theatre. And some Ben & Jerry's. Before they melt, of course.

Also, Paul McCartney's arriving to New York this week to perform at Citifield. I'm still heartbroken that I won't be able to go. Ah well. Maybe I'll just use my super speshul Invisibility Cloak to sneak into his hotel room and demand for his autograph. Getting him to drink a Veritaserum-laced tea while asking very intrusive quetions about his relationship with John Lennon wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Sorry, is my dorkiness showing? I'll keep it in check. Here, have some cuddly!Beatles for your thoughts:

I'm such a geek. I'm actually counting the days until I receive my pre-ordered Beatles: Rock band in the mail, which is around September 9 (9.9.09 Clever, innit?). I don't care what anyone says, I'm going to spend the entire day playing that game. It's going to be EPIC. I call dibs on the drums. RIIINGGGOOOOO!

Here's the intro if you haven't seen it yet. Even if you're not a Beatles fan, it's worth seeing. Very classy animation. I like the clever references here, there, and everywhere....

I just find it so hard to express myself at times, whether it's speaking, writing, or what have you. When I'm trying to write an essay, for example, it takes me 30 minutes to write just one sentence. I have the general idea in my head but I just can't seem to communicate it any concrete forms - in words or pictures. Whenever I do, it just comes out awkward, like strumming a sour note on an acoustic guitar. I have all these thoughts bubbling up in my head, struggling to get out, but it's like the cork is stuck, unwilling to pop out. It's so frustrating sometimes, I want to tear my hair out or slam my head against the wall. This is the reason why I have long periods of silences, because I'd rather say nothing than look like an awkward idiot. Maybe All I need is a medium or something. Just something. I dunno.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Just needed to sort things out in my head.

Dear self,

If you must make friends, please avoid those that are:

   a) emotionally unstable
   b) self-obsessed
   c) self-destructive
   d) extremely selfish
   e) attention-seeking whores.

People who fit more than two of these criteria are likely to turn against you despite all the efforts you've done to help. People who fit all of this criteria might blow up in your face one day and decide that you're not their friend any longer : so long, goodbye, you deserve it. People who fit this criteria and more do not deserve your attention or friendship.

Also, stop wasting your Christmas money.

Sincerely,
Me.

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.

And to make an end is to make a beginning.

There's no better way to celebrate a birthday than go kareoke-ing. Today, for example, my friends and I went to this Japanese kareoke bar to celebrate Lauren's birthday. We went wild and lost our voices in the process. Even Jermaine, the ever stoic Jermaine, sang a song (with a monotonous voice that even robots would be jealous of). Lauren, a huge Blink-182 fangirl, started making out with the screen as soon as she saw the band butt-naked in one of their music videos. It was extremely fun. We're definitely coming back one of these days.

Oh, and I would like to wish you all a very belated Merry Christmas! I wasn't able to do so yesterday because I was rather busy. I was calling all my old friends to play 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' on the piano for them. I was also really happy because I ran into him while he was doing his morning run around our apartment building.

I love the Christmas cheer, but God, it is incredibly tiring! Shopping, wrapping presents, writing Christmas cards - that's all I've been doing these past few days. Though tiring, it's incredibly enjoyable. On Saturday, for example, my family had fun brightening up our shabby apartment with Christmas decorations. I love our Christmas tree, which we adorned with all the ornaments we have. It's short, but we made it stand on a little table to compensate for its height.

What about you, f-list? What's your favorite thing about Christmas (or whatever holiday you're celebrating)?
